Anchorage Real Estate

Located in one of the most beautiful places in the world, Anchorage is the “diamond in the rough” of the last frontier. As modern as it is stunning, Anchorage has redefined the meaning of the good life when you consider how Alaska’s largest city blends natural beauty, modern conveniences, a vibrant business and cultural atmosphere and real estate opportunities.

Anchorage Skyline

With six mountain ranges and the ocean providing a continuous backdrop, Anchorage is without doubt a stellar example of a recreational wonderland. Temperatures in Anchorage vary from the short, cool summer days with average daytime temperatures between 55-78 degrees Fahrenheit, to winter temperatures averaging between 5-30 degrees Fahrenheit. These temperature differences allow Anchorage residents a plethora of ways to enjoy the natural beauty here. From finding downtown at Ship Creek and other areas, to enjoying the many trails for walking, bike riding, that are seemingly everywhere in Anchorage including the amazing Chugach State Park, residents have ample opportunity to enjoy being in the great outdoors. Of course, downhill and cross country skiing, hockey, softball and golfing are favorite pastimes in Anchorage, too.

NTLS Carnival

Anchorage, recognized four times as an All-America City, is blessed with a rich cultural heritage that is celebrated in a variety of events, fairs and festivals throughout the year. The ceremonial start of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Anchorage, the Moose Dropping Festival, The annual Fur Rendezvous features the “Running of the Reindeer” event, are just a few of the social event highlights that punctuate the calendar in Anchorage. Sports enthusiasts enjoy watching games and matches by the Alaska Aces hockey team, the Alaska Wild arena football team and both the Anchorage Buccaneers and Anchorage Glacier Pilots baseball teams, too.

Anchorage’s economic base is enhanced by the tourism, energy industries and complimented by the stability offered by the two U.S. military bases—Elmendorf Air Force Base and Fort Richardson—located to the cities north. Although traditionally Anchorage’s economy does not grow as rapidly as the rest of America, it does experience continuous growth and has not experienced the same troubles often experienced by the rest of the nation during economic downturns, indicated by the lower rate of home foreclosures. Furthermore, the Anchorage School District’s 88 public schools and numerous private schools provide students with a solid educational foundation, which can then be extended into higher education degrees, including bachelor’s or master’s, from the University of Alaska Anchorage, Charter College, Alaska Pacific University and the Anchorage campus of Wayland Baptist University. Health care is provided by Providence Alaska Medical Center, Providence Hospital, Alaska Regional Hospital, and the new Alaska Native Medical Center.
